Weigh Feeders are used to extract or feed material from under a feed bin.
The Total Engineering Systems range of Weigh Feeders cover light/low flow rates up to heavy duty high flow rate feeders either indoors or outdoors.
Installed under a bin, the Weigh Feeder can be set to extract material at a specified rate and can be used to batch a pre-defined amount of material.
Accuracy
A Weigh Feeder is a slow speed short conveyor using a Single Idler Belt Weigher. Expect ± 0.50% or better.
Application
Weigh Feeders are normally used for:
Controlling the flow rate of product into a process
Blending products on a continuous basis
Weigh Feeder
Operation
Any product that can be withdrawn out of a hopper and conveyed on a conventional belt conveyor can be weighed and the product passing can be totalised, and the instantaneous flow rate calculated.
Weigh Feeders function similar to Belt Weighers. Accuracy is dependent upon material loading.
Weigh Feeders provide continuous weighing with better accuracy than both Belt Weighers and Weigh Belt Conveyors. This is due to the fact that the cross sectional area does not change. Changes in bulk density are accommodated by the controller which has the ability to increase and decrease the belt speed as required.
When a number of Weigh Feeders are being used together they can be linked to ensure that if any one Weigh Feeder ran out of product all units would stop. Limit relays are available to provide an output signal to operators that there is a problem.

Instantaneous Flow Rate.
An analogue output signal can be used to control other equipment.

Selection Criteria
Weigh Feeders provide the advantage of continuous operation and require only minimal headroom. They can also be designed to suit any length required.
In comparison with other weighing methods, a Weigh Feeder requires more length than an In-Porcess Weigher and is full dynamic material calibration is more costly than static calibration. However Weigh Feeders can be easily statically calibrated to yield reasonable accuracy.
