BULK BAG FILLING

Bagging of bulk materials can be accomplished using several different weighing systems.
  1. Conventional platform scale, or
  2. Overhead Load Cell System
Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages, and is selected based on particular site requirements.

The design should cover all the OH&S issues relating to placing the empty Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container (FIBC), removing the FIBC and the way the operator accesses the station.

Specific material problems will also determine which additional equipment is required, such as a Possing Table. (This is when the material being bagged over fills the bag and must be shaken to consolidate the product so that it fits into the bag.)

Application
Bulk Bag filling stations are generally used on:
  • Single or Multi Trip bags
  • Lined or unlined bags
  • Single station, or
  • Accumulation system
Bagging Rates
Depending upon the level of automation, up to 20 bags per hour is achievable. Up to 60tph is easily achieved using one line.

Available Output
The FIBC Filling Station will provide Pulse Output. This can be read by out PC based Data Logging and Diagnostics tool that allows performance monitoring and amendment to controller operation parameters.

Options/Accessories
In addition to a single standalone Bulk Bag Filling station, the following accessories are available:
  • Pallet Dispenser
  • Operator Platform
  • Pneumatic Lowering Device
  • Automatic Bag Release
  • Bag "Possing"
  • FIBC Accumulating and Indexing Conveyors
Method of Operation
Configurations for Bulk Bag Filling range from simple operator controlled loading stations through to automated systems including automated palletizing and bag accumulation.

The process in general remains the same. An operator will take an empty FIBC and hang the straps on four safety hooks.

The operator then connects the FIBC spout to the filling spout on the Bulk Bag Filling station. The filling sequence is then initiated and the bag is filled through either a Single Position Catch Gate or a Two Position Feed Gate, depending upon the material and the required accuracy.

The weigh controller monitors the bag weight and stops the filling at the required weight. The bag is then removed and taken away.

Selection Criteria

We will need you to provide us with some basic information:
  1. Bagging rate in bags per minute?
  2. Accuracy?
  3. Product flowability?
