Belt Weighers are a simple and effective tool for totalising material passing over a conveyor. Installed into your process, the Belt Weigher can be used for:
- Stock control
- Process control
- Product blending
Belt Weighers are used to report on and totalise product passing. Belt Weighers can be used in a Master/Slave relationship to allow blending of products, the addition of liquids and so on. This is acheived via an analogue output signal that acts as a reference to control the addition of one or more additional products
Variables that affect the accuracy and reliability of Belt Weighers include the location of the weigh frame, conveyor length and inclination, belt construction and tension, troughing angle, idler alignment and the design of the Weigh Frame itself. Material loading and material residence times are also critical for Belt Weighers to work accurately and reliably.
The Active Weighing Solutions Belt Weigher can be supplied as a weighing system fitted to a pre-existing conveyor or as a new integrated weigh frame and conveyor (known as a Weigh Belt Conveyor).
It is important that installation pays close regard to the factors that affect belt weigher accuracy and reliability. Belt Weigher system ongoing maintenance and operational housekeeping are also critical to maintaing performance within desired specification.
Accuracy
Matched to your application, an Active Weighing Solutions simple Single Idler Belt Weigher can easily acheive a typical accuracy of ±0.50 to ±1.0%.
Where higher accuracy is required, a Multi Idler Belt Weigher will acheive better than ±0.50%.

Flow Rate
Active Weighing Solutions Belt Weigher designs can handle flow rates up to 5,000tph.
Belt Widths
Active Weighing Solutions Belt Weigher designs can accomodate belt widths from 300 to 3000mm.
Wide Belt Weigher customised with fitted check weights
Why Choose a Belt Weigher ?
Advantages
- Relatively low cost.
- Requires no additional head room.
- Fits into existing conveyors
Disadvantages
Full dynamic material calibration is more costly than static calibration.
However Belt Weighers can be statically calibrated very easily to give reasonable accuracy.
Method of Operation
Any product that can be conveyed on a conventional belt conveyor can be weighed and the product passing can be totalised and the instantaneous flow rate calculated.
Selection Criteria
To select the correct Belt Weigher configuration we will need you to provide us with some basic information:
- What is the application?
- What accuracy is required?
- Belt Width, Flow Rate and Belt Speed.
For a more detailed advice contact us and request a Belt Weigher Questionnaire.
